They are popular in the pet trade and often mistaken for the African clawed frog, a larger relative in the same family. African Dwarf frogs are generally peaceful but can display aggression under certain circumstances. While they are considered a docile species and suitable for community tanks with peaceful fish, they can become aggressive if they are hungry or if they perceive smaller tank mates as food.
