Black Forest Spiderwood - SMALL 4.00-10.00" OR SO is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Black Forest Spiderwood is the newest addition to our collection of hardscape. While it retains the iconic branching structure that hobbyists love, its deep, charcoal-black coloration sets it apart from standard brown Spiderwood. This unique variety is the perfect choice for creating a high-contrast driftwood aquarium, offering a striking "dark forest" aesthetic that makes the greens of your aquatic plants pop.
Product Features and Benefits
- Unique Dark Aesthetic: The natural black finish offers a dramatic departure from common brown aquarium wood. It’s ideal for scapes where contrast is key.
- Intricate Branching: Like standard Spiderwood, the Black Forest variety features complex, winding limbs that provide an immediate sense of scale and age to your planted aquarium hardscape.
- Excellent for Epiphytes: The textured, spindly branches are tailor-made for anchoring mosses, ferns, and Bucephalandra.
- Shrimp-Friendly Habitat: The numerous nooks and crannies offer safety and foraging grounds for shrimp and fry.

Preparation and Care
A little extra prep goes a long way in maintaining its stunning appearance.
- Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the piece to remove any dust or debris from transit.
- The Soaking Phase: This wood is lightweight and will float upon initial use. We recommend soaking it in a bucket until it is fully waterlogged, or weighing it down with heavier rocks.
- The "White Fuzz" Phenomenon: Don't be surprised if a harmless white fuzz appears on the wood shortly after it's submerged. This is a natural biofilm that your shrimp and snails will happily graze on until it disappears.
- Tannin Release: Spiderwood releases fewer tannins than other aquarium driftwood, but a quick 1-hour boil will still help it sink faster and keep your water clear. You can also reduce this effect through consistent water changes or through the addition of Aquario Neo Carbon Bag
Important note: We recommend rinsing wood thoroughly before adding it to an established aquarium. If you prefer, you may also boil the wood for at least 1–2 hours to help release tannins.
We stand behind the livestock we ship. In the rare event of a DOA, please contact us according to our Live Arrival Guarantee policy and provide the required photos of the unopened shipping bag.
