This attractive North American minnow is known for its shimmering silver-blue body and vibrant red-orange fins. Mature males can develop especially intense coloration during breeding condition, displaying beautiful blue, purple, and red tones that make them stand out in the aquarium.
Red Shiners are hardy, energetic schooling fish that do best when kept in groups. Their active swimming behavior makes them an excellent choice for larger community aquariums with similarly sized, active fish.

For the best display, keep Red Shiners in a group of at least six individuals with plenty of open swimming space. Rocks, driftwood, and hardy plants can be used to create a natural-looking environment while leaving enough room for their active schooling behavior.

How to Acclimate Your Fish
Allow the sealed bag to float in your aquarium for approximately 15–20 minutes to equalize the temperature. Open the bag and gradually add small amounts of aquarium water over the next 15–20 minutes. Gently transfer the fish into the aquarium.
Important: Do not pour shipping water into your aquarium. Turn off aquarium lights and allow your new fish time to adjust to its new environment.
